About project:

My RPG Maker project, that I was using to learn the engine better, morphed from practice stuff to a game for a friend.  It started with a few of us joking about what the theme would be if he were in a video game.   His response: I don't know, how to get a good beer?"  I ended up making character for him and have since been sending him video clips to make him laugh.   I later decided to tweak things and turn what I've been practicing into an actual game:

Friend goes fishing...but dumb enough to go during huge storm...gets shipwrecked in unfamiliar territory. He tries to collect lumber to rebuild his boat...but keeps getting distracted with unwanted hero stuff. All the player wants to do is get back home and crack open a nice cold beer!

Being able to put personal touches has been a great motivator to keep working on it (started summer of 2020).  Working on this project has (mostly) been a blast!  It's full of inside jokes but I'll still make the Windows version public available once the final version is complete.  There are still a lot of loose ends, some of which I'll let go since this is my first full project (yet still looking to make improvements too).

Anyways, you've been warned but have fun if you decide to try it out!  :)

P.S.  Shout out to my friends Justin, Alexandria, Chris, and Jay (who all have characters in the game) and to A___ and J____ for their "meeoooowwww" and "woof woof!"  :)

Play Mechanics:

  • UP/DOWN/LEFT/RIGHT arrows to move character or change selection
  • SHIFT held to dash while walking (or to slow down if auto dash is on)
  • ENTER or SPACE to select/interact (or finish dialog boxes)
  • ESC or X for menu (and to leave menu)
  • F4 toggles full screen on/off
  • Touchscreen supported

This game is actually very good I assume it's one of your first projects? Yet it's so well made I can see you've put a lot of dedication in details I'm actually very curious on how you've made reflections in mirrors; if I can give you just a small piece of advice, in the INN where the main character finds Quexp I'd put the circle to enter on the street and not on the roof but the rest is so awesome this game was totally what I ned after work, keep it up!

Hey there and thanks for trying it out!  You're right about it being my first project.  Well, I did a couple of forum challenges but I consider this my first real game.

I started it un June 2020 as a practice project to learn stuff but kept putting my friend (Justin) in it as a joke and would send him clips.   One night, at work, I asked him what the theme would be if he were the main character in a game. His answer was "I don't know, how did get a good beer?".  I ended up shifting gears and making him the main character and added some friends in as different NPC's.  Haha!  I'm not a great storyteller but the game is full of inside jokes...so didn't expect anyone from the public to take interest.  WHEW - I'm just blabbing now so on to your feedback.

I like the idea of moving the INN entry hint circle so will change that.  I used TSR-Mirror to experiment with the mirror reflection.  It took a bit of tinkering but it was a lot of fun.  It's not bad if you're comfortable with GIMP/Photoshop (as you'll need to edit the transparency of the mirror part of the tile).  That plugin is by The Northern Frog; here's the link for it:

Thanks again for checking out JustiGame!  I'll have a downloadable Windows version available once I feel my project is stable enough.  Have a great weekend and enjoy your beer!  :)

There are still a LOT of loose ends but I fixed some bugs and updated some of the music.
